The people of Omo Valley: Addis Ababa, the very name beats with a beautiful musical mystery. In my mind it conjures up romantic notions of 'one of those special far off places' alongside Kathmandu, Mandalay and Shangri-La. Once arrived, settled and over the fairly unromantic sprawling reality of Addis, I moved south with trusted guide Alex Dejene. Having heard the warnings that over-tourism has destroyed the tribes and that today's experience there is rather like that of a zoo, I knew that photographing the people of Omo would require great care. After two weeks of tough, dusty work I left content, heading north to tranquil church filled Lalibela, for some well-deserved R&R...
